Q: What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

A: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on ground fighting and submission holds. It was developed in Brazil in the early 20th century and is known for its emphasis on technique and leverage over strength and power.

Q: Do I need any prior experience to start training BJJ?

A: No, you do not need any prior experience to start training BJJ. Our classes are designed for people of all skill levels and our instructors will work with you to help you learn the basics and progress at your own pace.

Q: What should I wear to my first class?

A: You should wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows for a full range of motion, such as a t-shirt and shorts or sweatpants. We also recommend bringing a water bottle and a towel. A traditional BJJ uniform called a "Gi" is required after few classes, but it is not necessary for your first class.

Q: How often should I train?

A: The frequency of your training will depend on your goals and schedule. We recommend training at least 2-3 times per week for best results.

Q: Are there any age restrictions for training BJJ?

A: Currently we only offer Adult classes. Youths over 13 can participate but depending on the child they may be more comfortable with a parent or guardian present during their first class.

Q: Is BJJ safe?

A: BJJ is a safe sport when practiced correctly and with proper technique. Our instructors are highly trained and will teach you the proper way to execute techniques to minimize the risk of injury.

Q: How much does it cost to train at your gym?

A: Adult students get unlimited training for $40 a week, without a fixed term contract. We offer drop-in rates, and discounts for students and families. Please contact us for more information.
