Auckland BJJ Internal Competition – Full Event Report
Saturday, 22nd – Gi & No-Gi Submission Only
On Saturday the 22nd, Auckland BJJ held its latest Internal Competition, bringing together members from across the club for a full afternoon of high-intensity, submission-only matches. This event was designed not only as an opportunity for athletes to test themselves, but also as a practical grading tool—structured in the spirit of the historic Tsukinami Shiai monthly grading competitions held at the Kodokan in Tokyo.
Following the Kodokan tradition, competitors were arranged by weight and rank, progressing through matches in sequence. This format encourages continuous improvement, rewards technical efficiency, and allows coaches to evaluate performance under pressure in a fair environment.
The result was a day of exciting BJJ with a strong sense of camaraderie, respect, and technical growth. Below is a full breakdown of both divisions.
